Look, there is virtually nobody I can sway at this point. If you are of the mind to vote for John McCain at this point, what can I possibly say? You are either party loyal to a fault, are a lemming, or have latched onto a lie. There is nothing I can do about it. At least not number 1 or 2. But with regards to number 3… If you are going to vote for McCain, so be it… but please don’t if these are one of your reasons.
1. He is a Muslim. No, he is not. No matter how many times Sean Hannity swears it to be true. No matter how many times somebody slowly stretches out HUUUUUUUU SSSSSAAAAAIIINnnnnn to try and draw some sort of mental image in your head to connect him with Saddam Hussein. It is a flat out LIE.
2. He is black. Well, I can’t argue this, he is. But that is not a reason to not vote for him. C’mon man, it is 2008, are you still a racist? Put the frickin’ KKK robes away, take a slug of moonshine and realize that, “that thar colored fellow” is a whole lot smarter (and probabaly better educated) than you.
3. He is gonna raise my taxes. I am going to go out on the limb on this one a bit, and say blankly… No he isn’t. If you are making $250K or more a year, you are not sitting around reading blogs. You might have a blog, but you probabaly have somebody write it for you (or at least type it). Somebody explain to me please, how all these people that are actually going to get a tax cut under Obama’s plans are screaming about socialism, and fearing spreading the wealth around? Let me tell you something sparky, your one of the people he is spreading it to… because like I said, if you were making $250K +, you would have better things to do with your time than to stand around an be a “Joe the Plumber” clone. You remember Joe, he is the self important twit that exibits my point so clearly. He isn’t in the same city as the ballpark of making $250K, but goes to rallies and likes to pretend he does, and gets indignant about spreading the wealth, when his dumb ass would be the one that benefits.
I could go on, but you were going to get the point, you would have done so by now. Both sides have stretched the truth, as politicians running for office often do. But one side has done nothing but smear and flat out lie. And if you are going to not vote for Barack Obama, at least do it for something better than being caught up in the lies. Prove you have a brain and think for yourself. No matter which way you end up voting.
And regardless of how you vote, it should (but doesn’t) go without saying. Be sure to vote. Be sure to encourage others to do the same. It is not a right, it is a responsibility of being a citizen.
I’ll see you on the other side of what will probably be 24 hours of hell and fail whales as we await the outcome.

Cheers!
“Fail Whales?” I have no idea what this means, but I like it.
