Knowing her limits
LatteGirl had decided she had saved enough and was ready to do a little shopping with her allowance money. And especially since she did such a remarkable job of clearing out some old stuff, TheWife not only thought it was OK, but made the mind-numbing and quite daring decision to allow this trip to be to Toys ‘R’ Us during the holiday season.
The trip was to get a new doll. One that “did more” than her current dolls. She had narrowed it down to two dolls. Both very similar in what they did (eat, drink, wet, etc), but one was a bit more realistic and demanding than the other. She selected the lesser of the two dolls.
She never even looked at the prices of the dolls, so that wasn’t a factor, so I couldn’t help but wonder why she selected the doll that she did, since the other one seemed more real.
“That’s just it,” she replied, “it is too real, I am so not ready to take on that level of responsibility yet.”
