Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
OK, so I am not one to write much about television shows, and if you are not one to read much about them, feel free to move on for today. I feel compelled, mostly because at present there is only one “series” that I faithfully watch (I am also addicted to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report), and that show is CSI: Crime Scene Investigators.
So why am I so compelled to write now? Well beyond the obvious fact that it is the season premiere, as I see it, what happens tonight may very well tell whether or not the show will continue beyond this season; and it all hinges on whether the character of Sara Seidel lives or dies.
It has been rumored for more than a year that William Petersen (Grissom) wants to leave the show. They even did 4 episodes without him, seemingly as a test to see how the show would do without him. Personally I thought it was a disaster. If his love interest (Sara) dies, well that gives the script writers all they need to have Grissom walk away from the lab after failing his “most important case” and not being able to save Sara, “the one woman that I care about and love.”
Of course, if Petersen really wants to leave, it really doesn’t matter. If that is inevitable, then I probably don’t care whether her character lives or dies. I have found Sara to be a drain on the energy of the show, and I am not entirely sure whether it is the character (Seidel) or the actress (Jorja Fox).
So, I guess I just don’t know, and will have to wait and see what transpires. What do you think… Do you WANT Sara to die? Do you think she will? Even if she lives, is her character damaged goods that will have to “get away” from it all?
Place your bets.
(But please no spoilers. Since I am unfortunately busy at the time of airing, I will have to catch it on my Tivo about an hour to an hour and a half late.)

Got something to say?

Personally, I want Sara to die… I can’t STAND her character on the show - and, like you, I can’t tell if it’s Sara that I can’t stand or if it’s Jorga. I could go on for ages about all the things I hate about her, but as an avid watcher, you probably already know them.
However, CSI with no Grissom is NOT CSI. Proof? Try watching that trainwreck called CSI: Miami. CSI: New York ain’t so bad, but still pales in comparison to the original, no matter how much I love Gary Sinise.
Whether Sara lives or dies, if William Petersen goes, it will be the end of the line for me. I don’t blame him for wanting to move on, but to me, Grissom makes the show.
Even though I’m a TV junkie, CSI is one great show that I’ve never gotten into. I watch an episode here and there (of the original and the spin-offs), but I’ve never watched regularly. The one I probably see most is CSI: Miami and I like it because at this point David Caruso is just a funny parody of himself.
We have watched every week faithfully, even all of the reruns. The problem is that Jorga has not looked at all of the other actors who have tried to muscle higher pay. She did it last season and had to eat crow. She should take a page from others like Suzzane Sommers, the redheaded guy fro CSI Miami, and countless others. Why get too big from your britches? There are many, many tall dark haired actresses who will jump at the chance to replace her. Too bad. We really like her character.
