TVLN Music Club - Unchained Melody
August 5th, 1994 TheWife and I were married. Like (far too) many people in the early 80’s “our song” was heavily inspired by the movie Ghost. Now the movie doesn’t seem to hold the same “magic” it did then, and looking back, while it is certainly a nice film, I am amazed at how many people (us included of course) were so taken in by it. On the other hand, the song, The Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody is still one of my favorite love songs.

Got something to say?

I think at that time people were really starting to get into Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg were really hitting their strides, and the Romantic Thriller genre was starting to take off.
They all sort of hit at the same time.
One thing that’s bothered me, and maybe it’s just me, but was “Unchained Melody” an actual hit for the Righteous Brothers back when it was first released? I’d never heard the song before, but after the movie made it so popular it seemed people acted like it had always been one of the most popular songs of the 50’s.
I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it says there the song is one of the most recorded songs of the 20th Century.
Okayyyyyyyyyy…. if they say so… (shrug)
Anway, happy anniversary!!!
Always loved the song, never a big fan of the movie. At least I saw this one.
What’s up with you and Patrick Swazey?
I’ve said it before, but I will say it again: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
I liked Ghost when I saw it. Loved the song. That was before I had experienced real love or truly desired someone. The same summer that you and The Wife were married, I fell in love with my husband.
I still love the song. I have no intention of ever seeing the movie again.
Happy anniversary!
I was thinking that 1994 sounds like a long time ago, and then I realized that we’re only a year behind you.
