What do you get, when you attempt to create a genetically superior human in a lab in the 1950′s but the egg splits? You get, Twins
(1988), a whimsical slapstick comedy staring the unlikely pairing of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
Julius (Schwarzenegger) is a genetically “superior” one taken to a private island and given every opportunity to excel, and becomes a bright (albeit naive) person, while the “inferior” one is dumped in an orphanage and becomes a two bit con man and crook. When the Julius finds out he has a brother, he goes to seek him out, as well as the truth about his mother.
Vincent meanwhile accidentally stumbles across a bit “deal” by stealing the wrong car, and must deliver it to another criminal, but must bring Julius (and his girlfriend, and her sister) along.
While this movie was certainly a fairly well received hit, grossing $110 million dollars at the box office, many people still have yet to see it, or are afraid to watch a comedy that stars an “action hero” actor like Arnie.
If you have never seen it, give it a look. If you have… it just might be time to enjoy it again.
