Friday Focaccia

Short Friday Focaccia again today, as I am once again on the road to Atlantic City today.

First, a quick shout out and a Happy 40th Birthday to Mr. Big Dubya. No, not “The Commander Guy”, no THE Mr. Big Dubya, you know the one that doesn’t have 70% of the country hating him. . Stop on over at his place, or at CapeBuffalo (who is hosting his virtual Surprise Party) and wish him a Happy Birthday.

I have been pondering lately finally getting another MP3… opps, excuse me, Digital Music Player, but not liking to be a lemming, and not being the biggest fan Apple has ever had, I have decided to do reviews of several of the leading players including the Apple iPOD, Microsoft Zune, Creative Labs – Zen Vision, and whatever else I can beg or borrow. I am trying to build some real information, rather than the off balance marketing pieces I have seen in places like PC Magazine. So tell me, if you were looking for a new digital music player today, what would you want to know? What direct comparisons would you like to see them rated on? (And, depending on whether or not I can get my hands on them, what other players would you like to see added to the review).

While it is certainly a sad sort of proof of how far we really have to go in this country, I can’t say that I am surprised that Obama has received death threats and is now under Secret Service protection.

On a similar note, I can’t tell you how outrageous I think it is that our President has threatened to veto the Hate Crime Bill.  Why is it that the President, and people who are supposed to represent Family Values, think it is OK to commit violent hate crimes again people because of their gender or sexual orientation?

While, I am not a vegetarian (or vegan), I certainly can respect those that are.  However, when your six week old son weighs just 3-1/2 pounds, and you don’t realize you are starving the kid to death (and actually argue in court that you were not trying to hurt the child), then I agree with the verdict that you are guilty of malice murder.

Spiderman 3 is out riiiiiiiight about… now!  I have seen good reviews… and bad. Will you rush out to see Spiderman 3?  Wait to see what real people (rather than reviewers) have to say?  Or (like me most likely) will you wait until DVD?
