Mr. Williams, Vinny is on Line 2
Yes, I am back with another opportunity to pick on Brian Williams. As I was reading (along with the rest of the world) about Va. Tech shooting, I ran across this article (which I guess was inevitable) linking together this story with the Columbine Massacre. In it, I found the following passage:
Authorities did learn that Columbine killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold played violent games, made violent videos at school, and were the victims of bullying because they befriended the Trench Coach Mafia, a group of students who clashed with school athletes.
Perhaps somebody on the staff of MSNBC could, oh I don’t know, run a Google Search, or do some background checks on your information. Perhaps you may like to take a peek at this Salon article which states in part:
Five months after the massacre, investigators also refute other key allegations about the pair: that they were members of the Trench Coat Mafia, raised by negligent parents, practicing Goths or frustrated gays.
Harris and Klebold are still routinely referred to as belonging to the Trench Coat Mafia. As recently as Wednesday, in a report on Sears’ decision to stop selling a trench coat-wearing action figure, CNN Headline News was referring to “the two Trench Coat Mafia teens who were responsible for the Columbine High School massacre last April.” But sources unanimously and unequivocally confirm that the group had nothing whatsoever to do with the murders, and very little to do with Harris and Klebold.
So if Vinny in the Bronx (or Jay in NJ in this case), can find this information for his stupid little blog, why can’t the respected journalists at NBC (and their sister stations) get the story correct? I mean after all, you did talk about how you are the only credible source… right?
