It's interesting how all of Fred Phelps' "accusations" can be fairly easily refuted, or explained, or clarified, or re-interpreted if they'd only listen. I feel sorry for his followers (to an extent) that they've all been so brainwashed in a horrible twisted religious culture that, I feel, is really more about Satan worship than God worship. They just refuse to admit it to themselves.

I agree with you that the vigilante solution is no solution to school shootings, or mass shootings of any kind. I'd like to say we just have to be more aware of those among us who have those kinds of dark thoughts like this guy did, and like Dylan and Klebold did back in Columbine, but you can't arrest or detain someone for their thoughts or on suspicion they might one day do something bad. However parents and friends - the ones closest to the potential shooters - have to be aware of problematic behavior and attitudes, be prepared to set aside their personal feelings and loyalties, and confront them and offer support, assistance, solutions, love, etc before it escalates to a campus shooting spree.
