Dumb Company Tricks

My wife’s computer (eMachine) upped and died this past week, and it needed a new motherboard. No problem, ordered one and it came today. It came with one sheet that included the list of what was included and the following instructions:

1. Remove old motherboard (OK, seems logical)

2. Install New motherboard (Still going good – logic is still intact)

3. Transfer CPU and memory from old motherboard. Directions and Instructions can be found on the motherboard CD that is included.

Whaaaat? Now fortunately this doesn’t affect me since I have a multitude of computers, but for those people that don’t… uh… tough luck I guess? Just wing it, and when you get it to work, then you can read if you did it right?

I never thought I would see anything as dumb as back when Hayes included instructions with their modems that stated that if the drivers included with their modem weren’t up to date enough you could download the latest ones online! But I think this is a pretty close match.
