I could have told you that – This is a game that was started by the airlines, for the obvious reasons of making money, and the hospitals dutifully carried it along, with the same silly warnings that cell phones cannot be used in hospitals for fear of interfering with equipment. Now that the Mayo clinic has completed a study that states cell phones are safe to use in hospitals, I wonder how they are going to justify continuing to charge you outrageous rates for that phone they want to rent to you.
Worst of the Worst - The Consumerist is in the final round of voting for worst company in America – The RIAA vs Halliburton. Honestly this is a real tough choice. Both are out to screw the American People out of every last dollar they can. The RIAA is so desperate in their efforts that they sued a dead woman for alleged file sharing. Whereas Halliburton is making their money off the back of our armed forces with improperly filled or overcharged orders, and now it seems they are taken their illgotten gaines and are running away to Dubai. I’m not a god, but I play one in my practice – Where does your doctor draw the line and does his/her personal beliefs hinder your’s or your child’s care? When you look at the numbers in a statistical chart, it doesn’t at first blush look all that bad. Merely 6% of Doctors surveyed do not believe they have an obligation to tell a patient about a proceedure or medication they do not believe in, and only 11% would not not refer a patient to another doctor that does not have the same beliefs. On a chart those look like some minuscule numbers, but start calculating it out and it means that there are tens of millions of people that are not getting the full information from their doctors.
We’re all in this together – The filming has begun for High School Musical 2. Can this even hope to be anywhere near as popular and magical as the first movie? Certainly this one will not catch anybody by surprise, so it has a lot of work to be seen as anything other than just another Disney Sequel disaster.
Spring Forward Do Over - I was so concerned last week with being concerned about what odd issues may affect the switch to daylight savings time, I was remiss in pointing out some safety checks that are usually suggested to be done everytime you change the clocks. Fortunately the Consumer Reports Blog didn’t forget, and has a list of to-dos for every time those clocks spring ahead. If you are like me and didn’t do them last weekend. This weekend would be a good time to get to them.
