Taking some action

I toyed and backed away from the idea of running for Councilman in my town last year, mostly because I felt I wasn’t quite ready, and that I needed to learn more about the process.

This year, however I decided that waiting wasn’t all that great an idea, although now I have set my sights a bit differently and will be going after a seat on the Board of Educatation.

Why now, well I have a new Diary Post on BlueJersey.net.

For those not interested in clicking over, a brief explanation, below the fold.

Brief History:

A Teacher in the Kearny School system decides to use his classroom as a pulpit.

The Board of Education says it has “no jurisdiction” and defers to the School Administration.

The School Administration, basically attempts to sweep it under the rug.

Teacher finally responds in Op Ed piece in local paper, not to apologize, not to set the record straight, but to show righteous indignation over his inability to Preach as a schoolteacher.

The School Boards purpose is oversight that things are being handled properly in the school system, which means suggesting actions when the Administration is not taking appropriate steps.

If they refuse to act, then it is apparently time for me to get off my butt, stop looking for somebody else to support who I hope will fix the problem and become part of the solution.

If nothing else, it should be fun foray into what I like to call, “Parental Politcs.”

They say that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Well, now I will try to do it myself.
