It's great that the check up thoroughly on the owners, it seems like they are almost more strict with animals than with kids though...... I do not mind donating to shelters, I donate to several every year. But it is a tough sell to Joe Six-Pack that he should go to a shelter to get a dog, when he can take Little Joe Jr. to the pet store and get that brand new puppy for not that much more money. I guess the one thing you get for your money is the assurance that the dog you are adopting is most likely not ill or has not horrible genetic defect. Pet stores are the worst places to get pets from. Amen. I do think the process is a bit much but in a lot of cases nessary. I, me who loves my Basset more then I love myself, was denied by my first breeder. I was hurt because I knew I would give the dog a good loving home. But she turned me down because I work all day. Yet her pups were $900.00, who could pay that if they didn't work? Oh, sorry, didn't mean to write a book, i'll stop now! Trust me the rescue does not even come close to making any money off $200.00 for each dog. I do think the process is a bit much but in a lot of cases nessary.
