iPhone iShmone

Right now I feel like I am the only one on the planet, but I personally couldn’t care less about the new Apple iPhone.

True, I do have a bias and track record of not being Apple’s biggest fan (wow, was that an understatement), but let’s be honest here for a moment can we?  The only product Apple ever put out that has garnered any serious market share was the “MP3 Player for Dummies,” an overly simplistic device that hit at just the right time when it needed to be dumbed down to hit mainstream, after geeks (like me) spent the prior several years demanding more and more be added to MP3 players before that (and companies like Creative and Rio obliging right up until the device was too complicated for the “average joe” to use apparently).  But I digress…

For all its supposed superiority  the Mac has never garnered much in the way of market share.  The Newton, which likes to think it was what started the PDA market, was a dud, do they even have a real two button mouse yet that works on a Mac?  Did anybody buy the Mac TV?

My point it, that just because it is a phone with an “i” in front of it, doesn’t mean it is going to be the perfect success that Apple fans are clamoring about, or that once you start using it in the real world it will be “all that.”

Don’t get me wrong, from the pictures I have seen from the show, it looks neat.  But at approximately $499.00 (with a two year contract), they can keep ‘em until at least I am sure they got the bugs out of this version 1.0 product.

Do you watch SNL? Last night, Fred Armisen did Steve Jobs touting the iPhone. It was hilarious.

I like Apple and dumped my Microsoft stuff for Apple about six months ago. Couldn’t be happier. I also like the Iphone. But I agree, enough is enough.

Just like the Mac computers and ipod, I’m sure the phone will be superior in pretty much every possible way. It’s not so much how great the phone is, it’s how freaking unbelievably useless the other companies are.

I mean, what person with half a brain buys a Motorola phone or sign up with Verizon? I probably offended you and many others right there but truth is these products suck.

It’s shame that mobile service in US is 10 years behind Europe and Asia, positive thing is that it will only get better from here.
